Ottawa Courthouse Greenroof
The Ottawa Courthouse green roof is one of the largest municipal green roof installations in eastern Ontario — 70,000 sq. ft. across 26 separate roof sections at multiple elevations.
Canning Greenworks contributed to design development, construction documentation, and specification writing for the project. The design integrates 60 native and adapted plant species selected for low maintenance and ecological performance, managing stormwater on-site and reducing building energy loads. Outdoor seating and a public plaza were included to extend usable civic space
This project demonstrates what green roof design looks like at institutional scale — from early schematic decisions through to the documents a contractor actually builds from.
